Blueberry Lemon Gin and Tonic – SGWAK

Blueberry Lemon Gin and Tonic - SGWAK

This is an amazing drink I came up with recently. This is a blueberry lemon gin and tonic. The blueberry syrup is homemade of course.

2 oz. Gin

2 oz. Blueberry Syrup

3/4 oz Lemon Juice

Topped with tonic and garnish with a lemon wedge. Not required but highly recommended is the hand carved clear ice.

The blueberry syrup is dead simple to make also. I measured the weight of the blueberries, 290g. Then did 290g water and 290g sugar into a pot, warmed it up and occasionally stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Once it’s all dissolved remove from the heat and add in the blueberries. Using a potato masher I crushed the berries and then let them steep in the sugar water for an hour. After that I strained the mixture through some cheese cloth into a jar and put it in the fridge.

I’ve been on a syrup kick lately because they’re so easy and so delicious to make. If you have tonic or club soda on hand also you can make your own flavoured sodas.

More to come of these syrups!
