A good hoagie is another on of my favourites, so when I found Ethan Chlebowski’s video on youtube about making the perfect hoagie, I knew I had to try it.
It’s a pretty simple recipe(find it here), but finding diastatic malt powder wasn’t something i could do locally. But a quick online order later and it showed up at my door.
The process for making these should sound familiar so I won’t go into detail. I still struggle a tiny bit with shaping rolls and buns but I was able to hide that in my pictures!
Now for what I did with the rolls once they were ready. I turned them into incredibly delicious ham and turkey hoagies.
It starts with provolone cheese on the bottom with ham and turkey. Some torn lettuce, thinly sliced red onion and tomato on top. For sauce it was mayo and a special vinaigrette. What made it special was one, it was a christmas gift from my parents. Two, it was a bacon vinaigrette!
A bit of acid in a hoagie adds so much flavour and the fact that it also adds a bit of bacon makes it perfect! I highly recommend making these hoagies, you won’t be dissapointed!
