I’m a little late posting the baking I did for the holidays but better late than never I guess. I wanted to try out a bunch of stuff I’ve never made before so I came up with this list. There are some that took a few tries and a couple others that I couldn’t quite get right. In the end they seemed turn out really good, plus I brought the extras to work which seemed to get me quite a few brownie points with the colleagues.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Skor Cookies - TasteOfHome<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

These were made using a butterscotch cookie recipe here<\/a><\/strong><\/span>. The only difference was that instead of the butterscotch chips I used a 200g bag of skor chunks. I remember my mom making cookies with the skor bits so I wanted to give it a try. It did not disappoint, upside was it made a lot of cookies!\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Although all the cookies I made were good, this one was my favourite! There weren’t any modifications to this recipe<\/a><\/strong><\/span>. As usual I kept them on the chewy side which was perfect. Although not the top of my list for this group these were still fun to try out. I used a regular cookie recipe to then used this recipe<\/a><\/strong><\/span> for the rest. It’s super simple to coat some cookies with chocolate, shake up some milk and bailey’s for a small treat.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Another super simple but super good one was this peppermint bark<\/a><\/strong><\/span>. Basically just chocolate and peppermint the combination is delicious.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

For a quick recipe I had to make this one<\/a><\/strong><\/span> a couple times. The first batch was too soft and the second batch was still soft but it was close enough for me! I’m still not sure how to get these to hold together just a little bit better but I’m sure I’ll figure something out.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Chewy Salted Peanut Bars - TasteOfHome<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

This was another slightly tricky one that took a few tries to get right. The chewy peanut bars<\/a><\/strong><\/span> are worth the effort though! The issue I had was getting the butterscotch topping to harden up enough so it wouldn’t spill all over. The first try was very soft and once they were cut it would just melt off. The second try stiffened up a bit more but still made a slight mess. The third time may have gotten a little harder than planned but it tasted great. The trick was to use a candy thermometer to get the butterscotch up to almost 200\u00b0F in the pot before pouring it over the crust. I had to reduce the bake time to stop it from going too far but it worked out very well!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
